This printable activity is designed to help children practice those following directions skills by giving them a set of steps to follow to create the fish. The instructions which are included in the pdf are easy to follow and simple for preschoolers or toddlers. All the shapes that are used are simple shapes such as circles, triangles, and squares. This also helps the child to see how shapes can create things. You can also throw in a little shape recognition as well, such as “Where is the oval?” or ask which shape is which.
Build a Fish with Simple Shapes : Preschool Printable Activity
Continuing of with our fish theme (check out our Red Fish Blue Fish activity!) we are sharing a printable build a fish activity. Included in the pdf are the building instructions as well as the printable pieces to construct the fish.
We put ours in a paper plate fish bowl which was covered (a little too much) in blue paint. It turned out really cute and the kids liked building their fish.
If you want to use it as a repeatable activity like a puzzle or with multiple children I would suggest lamination or the use of clear contact paper.
The instructions
If you want to add a little more to the activity, you can cut out the instructions on the dotted lines and have the children put them in order before they build their fish.
