Cotton Swab Rainbow Painting : Easy Toddler or Preschool Activity
Rainbows are a great anytime project for toddlers. They are all about colors and toddlers love colors!
Make your own toddler friendly watercolors:
Super easy! Just add food coloring to water. I put ONE drop of food coloring in each place on this silicone heart pan and then filled it halfway with water.
The colors came out bright and easily spreadable.
For this project I gave her a paper plate and a cotton swab for each color. Then I let her paint her rainbow. The paper plate held in the wetness and the cotton swabs made for excellent paint brushes.
My toddler’s favorite part was mixing the colors and creating new colors. That is okay with me. I am not out for the perfect art project, I am about letting her grow in her confidence and creating something she herself is proud of.
The end result is not the prize but the journey they embark on to get there.
Creative art is all about expression and with this activity she was able to express herself in a rainbow of colors.
After the first game, the tooth picks are easier to put in for another round. Let the kids make up their own rules and play again!
