This past week the school the kids currently go to had Field Day. The day before Bub had an asthma flare that left him sick. He hasn’t had one since last summer so we took him to the doctor to make sure everything was good. He got his first big boy inhaler which is a story all on it’s own. Anyway, he missed Field Day. I just didn’t feel it was a good idea to put him out in the heat running the day after a big flare. Instead we waited till the next day and had our own Field Day at home where I could send him inside if I notice him beginning to show signs of anything (post coming soon on that). The one thing they requested for our Home Field Day was award ribbons which is really what this post is supposed to be about. So here they are:
DIY Award Ribbons for our Homemade Field Day
Materials:
Thick Ribbon – I found these in the craft section at Walmart for around $1.50. They would make a whole bunch of ribbons.
Paint marker – I know I have a fabric marker here but it didn’t work. Below I have a picture of the paint marker we used.
Scissors – Shaped scissors would be great but if you don’t have any (like me) any kind will work.
Stickers – Optional but really adds to the project.
Cut the ribbon about 6 inches in length. Fold the ends and cut a triangle out of either side. Each cut makes a different design.
Add your decorations.
Here is the paint marker we used. These are really easy to use but it does go thru the ribbon so be sure to cover your table with paper.
Here is the painted ribbons. We put a one and two but you could write whatever you want on them. GOOD JOB. GREAT GAME. Their names.. or so on.
Finished product. Bub made the 55 one for overall winner of the games. It’s a great project to get the kids involved in preparing for their own Home Field Day.
