It’s almost Thanksgiving Day!
I don’t really know about normal traditions as we have our own family traditions but I’m sure no matter what your own family does our holiday will be similar in one aspect, it will be super busy. I had this idea to find some great Thanksgiving episodes from our favorite preschool shows to share with you only to realize there is a huge lack of shows that teach young kids to be thankful. Although there are shows for adults that address the holiday, preschool shows skip over it from Halloween to Christmas. Thanksgiving isn’t just about the powerful history it holds for our country or learning about how to cook a turkey properly. It’s about learning to be Thankful. Teaching thankfulness helps kids to realize what they have and how to be grateful. It helps them to understand there are those who aren’t as fortunate and helps build a giving heart. Thanksgiving is also about family time and being together. One of my biggest things I am thankful for is my family and Thanksgiving gives me time to show that to them. So this year we will celebrate thankfulness as a family just like some other well known families on Netflix.
As a family who hugs way too much like the Fullers in Fuller House.
As a family who looks forward to night times snuggles and giggle-fests like the Gilmore Girls.
As a family who likes to have fun together and host dance parties at any given point in time like the Kiplings.
I also have these two worksheets to help understand being thankful that you can use with your child. I hope that everyone has a great Thanksgiving Day and enjoys plenty of family time!
