Families and Neighborhood Preschool Color Match File Folder Activity
This activity is a fine motor and color matching file folder game that can also be used to teach about different family types. When I started working on the activity I was just thinking about color matching people, cars, and pets to different houses and then I realized I could use this to teach Lou that all families are built differently. There are eight different families living in this neighborhood. They are different races and built differently such as some have two children, some only one, and some don’t have children. Each family has their own car and pet. They are pretty basic in design (they don’t even have facial features) so the kids can create any back story they want for each family. Imagination is key! 🙂
Lou gave each family a name and created a back ground for each. She had as much fun creating lives for the different families that live in each house as actually matching the different colored items to each spot.
There are three items belonging to each house in the neighborhood. One family, one pet, and one car for go into their own spots on each house. The pieces are a little on the small side which makes it great for practicing those fine motor skills. 🙂
Instructions for use:
Print, cut out, and laminate the matching blocks.
Tape or laminate the neighborhood pages inside a folder.
