Ideas to expand the lesson:
- Place Value Scavenger Hunt:
- Hide numbers written in expanded form around the classroom or outdoor area.
- Give student a list of numbers in standard form and have them find the corresponding expanded form.
- Place Value War Card Game:
- Use a standard deck of cards with numbers written on them.
- Students draw two cards each, create a two-digit number, and compare to determine the winner based on place value.
- Place Value Bingo:
- Create bingo cards with numbers written in expanded form.
- Call out numbers in standard form, and students mark the corresponding expanded form on their cards.
