(This message was added in version 6.7.0.) in /home2/masterminds/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6114This weekend as I was cuddling my four year old and talking about what projects she wanted to do for the week, she made an odd request. She said, “Remember the witch we made last Halloween with the zig zag legs and we colored it? I want to do another one link that but a monster.” I did but vaguely and was more surprised that she remembered it from so long ago. I did a quick search on the blog to find our older pattern to see if that was the one she was thinking of and then I got to work making her two new patterns to play with. I made her monster she requested and a vampire too.

Get the witch pattern here!

These patterns work just like the witch pattern. They are really pretty simple. The child colors the picture and then cuts around the dotted line. They can use either split pins or glue to connect the arms and head to the body.

The legs are a little different. Two strips of construction paper make up the legs. Each piece is folded accordion style. This is a great small motor activity for little hands. Back and forth the folds go. They don’t have to be perfect, in fact the weirder they are just adds uniqueness to the monsters. The shoes are glued on to the end of the paper strips and the strips are then glued to the bottom of the body.

Let the glue dry before lifting the monster up… we learned this the hard way. The paper legs will pop right off because they are kinda heavy.

She was very happy with her project once it was finished and it really was a great idea. I may have to assign her the role of project development and ideas… but first I am going to assign her the role of glue scraper off the table. 🙂

Be creative with your monsters!
